I recently downloaded the demo for mass effect 3, and let me just say it gives me a good felling about the game proper. You play though two parts of the single player story with a chance to try out the new ways of playing the game. Those are either combat which is playing the game mainly as a third person shooter where combat is difficulty based, but choices are made for you and all the dialog is done like non interactive cut scenes with default dialog options made for you. Then there's the story option were it is just the opposite where you steamroll though enemies to get to the next scene where you make all the choices both in story and in dialog and your Shepard is also upgradeable by you in this option. The last option is the role play option which is the traditional mass effect experience and combines the other two together. The multilplayer portion of the demo plays like Halo Reach's firefight mode with a twist. It is 10 to 11 waves of enemies with every 3 or so waves giving you a mission to accomplish in addition to taking out the enemies to gain credits to spend on packs which give you up to 5 items which range from powers to new weapons and suites to play as. The demo isn't perfect by any means and gets 3.5 1up mushrooms from me, but like I said at the start it gives me high hopes for the game proper. We'll find out on march 6th when it comes out, and in the meantime try the demo for yourself and see what you think of it.
